Rubaga North Lord Councillor James Mubiru has petitioned the Office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate the alleged fraudulent allocation of 1.5 acres of land at Dwaliro Road, Mulago, in Kampala District.
According to Mubiru, the Land Commission awarded a 49-year lease to Samuel Brian Ssegawa, who has begun constructing on the land, including in the road reserve.
Mubiru strongly condemns the alleged land grab, stating that it’s a clear case of scrupulous individuals encroaching on government land with impunity.
He draws parallels to previous incidents involving land housing Mulago hospital, emphasizing the need for swift action.
Mubiru is urging the IGG’s office to thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate action according to the law, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
The councillor’s petition highlights ongoing concerns about land management and allocation in Kampala, with many questioning the transparency and accountability of the Land Commission.
Mubiru’s call for investigation aims to restore public trust and ensure that government land is protected from unauthorized allocation and encroachment.
