Two fuel vendors arrested after teen’s tragic death in Nwoya District

ARRESTED

Two roadside fuel vendors in Nwoya District are in police custody following allegations that they sold petrol to a 17-year-old girl, Paska Ajalo, who tragically died after self-immolation.

The suspects, whose identities have not been disclosed due to ongoing investigations, were apprehended on Tuesday in connection with the incident.

Reagan Magombe, the Nwoya District Police Commander, confirmed the arrests, highlighting that the suspects sold petrol to a teenager who did not possess a motorcycle, raising concerns about the circumstances of the sale.

Justin Odong Ajaji, the L.C.III Chairperson of Lii Sub County, provided further context about the deceased.

He noted that Ajalo was living with her uncle, Dominic Okot, who had sent her to take maize to a grinding mill the day before the tragic event.

The chairperson expressed concerns that Ajalo may have taken her own life due to feelings of shame, following the discovery of her association with a boyfriend.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the events leading up to Ajalo’s death.
