The opposition cabinet in Parliament has passed a resolution calling on all Members of Parliament who allegedly received a 100 million shilling bonanza from President Museveni to return the money immediately.
Led by the Acting Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi, the shadow cabinet unanimously agreed that all opposition and independent MPs who did not receive the alleged funds should sign a resolution confirming their non-involvement in what they described as the unlawful misuse of public resources.
This resolution followed a meeting held earlier today, after which the opposition leadership addressed the media regarding serious allegations that certain MPs had received money in appreciation for passing the Coffee Bill and for rallying support for the UPDF Amendment Bill.
Hon. Kivumbi emphasized that the opposition would publicly release the names of MPs who declare they did not receive the funds, aiming to shield innocent members from being unfairly associated with the scandal.
He further warned that opposition MPs, particularly from the National Unity Platform (NUP), who accepted the alleged 100 million shilling donation, may face political consequences, including campaigns to de-campaign them in their constituencies and advocating for their replacement as party flag bearers in the next election cycle.
