In an eagerly anticipated clash, Buddo Secondary School is primed to take on defending champions St Mary’s Kitende (SMASK) in the Wakiso Zone Football final on Tuesday, 15th April, at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
Buddo SS is coming off a hard-fought 1-0 semifinal victory against Greenlight Islamic SS, showcasing their determination to reclaim the title they last held in 2023.
With a storied history in the competition having won the championship in 2019, 2022, and 2023 Buddo is hungry to cement its legacy against a formidable opponent.
St Mary’s Kitende, known for their dominance in the Wakiso Zone, secured their spot in the final by narrowly defeating Standard High Zzana (STAHIZA) 1-0, courtesy of Santos Agok’s late goal. SMASK has a commendable record, having lifted the trophy four times, including their recent triumph in 2024.
As both teams prepare for the final, their respective journeys through the tournament have been impressive. All four semifinalists Kitende, Buddo, STAHIZA, and Greenlight Islamic SS have earned automatic berths in the national tournament set to take place in Ngora in May 2025, further emphasizing the competitive spirit in the Wakiso Zone.
In other championship matches, Kyadondo SS will face Madinah Islamic in the Europa final for the fifth spot, while the Women’s final will see St Noa and Rines SS compete, rekindling their rivalry from last year.
