Archbishop Kaziimba urges politicians to promote peace ahead of general elections

Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has called on politicians to refrain from inciting violence during the upcoming general elections.

In his Easter message delivered at Namirembe’s Palace Gardens, he urged political leaders to strive for peace, citing the ongoing insecurity in the Democratic Republic of Congo as a cautionary example.

The conflict has led to the displacement of over 70,000 Congolese refugees who have sought refuge in Uganda.

Dr. Kaziimba condemned corruption within government offices, emphasizing its detrimental impact on essential services such as healthcare.

He also expressed concern over environmental degradation, warning that it poses a significant risk to the lives of Ugandans in the future.

The Archbishop highlighted the importance of peace, stability, and security in Uganda, encouraging citizens to value life and reject both violence and corruption.

Reflecting on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, he emphasized themes of hope and renewal in his Easter message.

Dr. Kaziimba encouraged Ugandans to work toward a peaceful and prosperous future, advocating for a culture rooted in life and harmony.
