The Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, has reemphasized the necessity of observing ecclesiastical order among both priests and lay faithful.
In his homily during the Chrism Mass at Lubaga Cathedral on Thursday, Archbishop Ssemogerere stated that the Holy Oils blessed on this day are central to the Church’s liturgy, solidifying the sacramental care for the faithful.
His Grace noted that priests who utilize the Holy Oils bear the responsibility of blessing and sanctifying the people of God, thereby supporting them on their journey as Christians, strengthened in faith and hope as they aspire to reach heaven.
During the Mass, priests also renewed their vows to the priesthood in the presence of the Archbishop, demonstrating their humility and service, while reaffirming their commitment to ministry.
Archbishop Ssemogerere took this opportunity to remind them to be ready and available to serve those yearning for God’s salvation.
In this solemn Mass, he blessed the oils used in the consecration and celebration of various sacraments throughout the year.
Additionally, the same day, Holy Thursday, marks the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood, culminating in the evening mass that commemorates the Washing of the Feet and the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.
