The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, Rt. Rev Moses Banja, has called for the respect of human dignity and the promotion of peace in the lead-up to the upcoming general elections.
In his Easter Message delivered at Saint Paul’s Namirembe Church of Uganda Cathedral, Bishop Banja stressed the importance of political players prioritizing peace and human dignity, referencing the violent Kawempe North Parliamentary by-election as a troubling sign for the 2026 general elections.
Additionally, Bishop Banja condemned the Shs100 million cash bonanza allotted to Members of Parliament, labeling it a betrayal of the nation’s trust.
He argued that such corrupt practices undermine the country’s credibility, urging lawmakers to focus on the well-being of Ugandans rather than pursuing personal benefits.
By addressing these critical issues, Bishop Banja adds his voice to the growing calls for integrity, accountability, and peace within Uganda’s political sphere.
