Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has officially flagged off Team Uganda in preparation for the CAF African Schools Football Championship, scheduled for April 23–26 in Accra, Ghana.
During the ceremony, she encouraged the team to embrace Pan-Africanism, discipline, and professionalism as they represent their country on the continental stage.
Among reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sports through talent development and improved infrastructure, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young athletes.
She also highlighted Parliament’s focus on increasing funding for the Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) to help cultivate future talent for national teams.
Uganda will be represented in the tournament by St. Noa Girls School in the girls’ category and St. Mary’s Kitende in the boys’ category.
The championship will see eight countries compete for the top prize of US$300,000, with second and third place teams set to receive US$200,000 and US$150,000 respectively.
