Democratic Party in Uganda mourns Pope Francis’ passing

The Democratic Party (DP) in Uganda has expressed its deepest condolences following the death of Pope Francis, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Gerald Siranda, the party’s Secretary General, conveyed the message of condolence on behalf of the DP during a press conference at the party’s political center headquarters on Balintuma Rd in Mengo.

Siranda described Pope Francis as a champion of social justice, peace, and human rights, whose leadership and vision had inspired countless individuals around the globe.

He emphasized that the Pope’s commitment to promoting the values of compassion, forgiveness, and reconciliation had left an indelible mark on the global community.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis, aged 88, passed away just after 7:30 AM local time on Monday, a day after delivering a surprise appearance at St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday to greet well-wishers.
