The Archbishop of Kampala, the Most Rev. Paul Ssemogerere has called for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to fight against human trafficking in Uganda.

He made this call during the National Prayer Day against Human Trafficking held at Old Kampala Senior Secondary School, which began with a procession led by him.

Archbishop Ssemogerere has stressed the importance of prayer and reflection in combating human trafficking.

According to the Uganda Police Report on Human Trafficking for 2023, there were 1,006 recorded cases, a decrease from the 1,200 cases reported in the previous year.

Uganda is a source, transit and destination country for women, children and men subjected to human trafficking.

This year’s theme; “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight against Human Trafficking”, emphasized the need for collective action to protect vulnerable populations, particularly children and women.

The event has been attended by various clerics and religious men and women, highlighting the strong support from the religious community in the fight against human trafficking.
