Radio Sapientia has received a new Managing Director (MD) to steer leadership and propel its communication operations to greater heights in the country.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Lubula becomes the sixth permanent MD since its establishment by the Catholic Bishops in 2001, replacing Rev. Fr. Eustachius Lwemarika whose contract ended in August 2023.
Fr. Lwemarika served for 10years from 2013 to 2023 and handed over office to Francis Jjunju in an interim capacity of about 10 months.
Fr. Lubula who was appointed by the Catholic Bishops under the Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) in 2023 has been the Social Communications Coordinator for Lugazi Diocese for the past five years.
In his first address to the staff of Radio Sapientia this morning at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat Nsambya the station home, Fr. Lubula has pledged to preserve the achievements and work harder to consolidate the success registered by the company in order to meet its mission of being the leading Catholic Commercial and competitive Radio in the country.
He expressed delight at the quality of service and dedication exhibited by the staff that has helped to keep the Radio Station in operation in spite of the existing challenges facing media houses in the country.
He has however encouraged Radio Sapientia staff to keep their achievements jealously keeping in mind that the listener, one of their primary stakeholders, is always waiting to get informed, formed and educated.
Francis Jjunju who has been the Acting M.D since August 2023 when the former M.D Rev. Fr. Lwemarika left, promised the new MD of their commitment and cooperation to propel the station forward.
Fr. Anthony Matovu was the first Managing Director of Radio Sapientia in 2001, followed by Br. Rogers Kazibwe, Sr. Juliet Ssanyu Nakazibwe, Sister Denis Nanyanzi Ssamanya, Fr. Eustachius Rwemalika, Francis Jjunju as the Interim MD and now Fr. Lubula.
