The Pope Nuncio Emeritus Archbishop Augustine Kasujja has implored the youths who graduate from institutions of higher learning to be the light of the world in whatever they do by fighting against evils such as corruption, protect mother nature and the environment and help the poor.

This was in his homily as he led Mass at the 9th graduation ceremony of the University of Kisubi (UNIK)where he represented the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere.

A total of 289 students have graduated in various disciplines and were awarded Masters, Bachelor’s degrees, Postgraduate diplomas, diplomas and certificates. Out of these, 171 are female making 59% and 118 are male reflecting 41%.

Archbishop Kasujja has asked the graduands to be humble, prudent, show God’s love, hope and joy to all especially to the neglected as they execute their work in their various destinations and be advocates of human rights as St. Francis of Assisi did whose feast day is celebrated today.

He notes that the light can be expressed in the Christian virtual of truth and justice so that they reflect the image and values of the University of Kisubi.

Archbishop Kasujja noted that the graduation comes as the Catholic Church celebrates the 60th anniversary of the canonization of the Uganda Martyrs which occurred on the 18th of October in 1964.

On this note he encourages the graduates to emulate the life of the Uganda Martyrs who embraced the Christian doctrine by witnessing Jesus Christ in this country.

This year’s graduation was held under the theme; “You are the Light of the World”.
