40 Ugandans to Receive Medals at Independence Celebrations

40 distinguished persons have been identified to be awarded with medals during Uganda’s 62nd Independence Day Celebrations on October 9th 2024 in recognition of their tireless efforts towards Uganda’s socio-economic and political wellbeing.

The national celebrations will be held at Busikho Primary Teacher’s College playground in Masafu Town Council, Busia district; where President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be joined by the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera and other Ugandan Government officials.

While addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center on Friday, Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the State Minister for Kampala, who represented the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda, said that among the selected medalists, 35 are male and 5 are female.

30 of these are to be awarded with the National Independence Diamond Jubilee Medal, 3 will be given the Luweero Triangle medal, one will get the Masaba Medal, 4 will get the Police Long Service Gold Medal, one will be awarded the Police Personal Sacrifice medal and one person will get the Police Meritorious Medal.

Meanwhile, Kyofatogabye has praised the NRM Government under the leadership of President Museveni for liberating Uganda and maintaining the prevailing peace which has enabled over 1.5 million refugees to seek shelter in Uganda.

He also revealed that at the same event, President Museveni will officially launch the Kiira Motors Company which is working towards reducing carbon emissions in Uganda by manufacturing environmentally friendly vehicles.
