The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of Police has officially summoned three former leaders of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to record statements this Wednesday.
These include the former Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, her Deputy, Eng. David Luyimbaazi Ssali and the former Director of Public Health, Dr. Daniel Okello.
This action comes in the wake of the tragic incident that occurred at the Kiteezi landfill, where 35 individuals lost their lives two months ago, with several others still unaccounted for.
The summons is part of a broader investigation into allegations of neglect of duty in the management of the landfill.
Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson confirmed that the former officials are expected to appear on Wednesday October 16th 2024 at 9am to make their statements.
He emphasized that their testimonies will be crucial in assessing the findings of both the Inspector General of Government (IGG’s) report and the ongoing investigations by the CID.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni sacked the three former KCCA officials on September 24th 20224 in the public interest due to significant evidence of criminal negligence following an investigation by the IGG into the Kiteezi Landfill disaster.
