NUP to Welcome Members Who Accepted Army Court Charges

NUP party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu

The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) Party has expressed support for its political prisoners who pleaded guilty at the Military Court to secure their release over what they termed as trumped-up charges.

This has been sounded by the NUP party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine at the party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, Kampala saying these individuals were coerced into pleading guilty after enduring long detention, which left many exhausted.

According to Kyagulanyi, the prisoners were forced to plead guilty in exchange for their freedom from military detention.

Kyagulanyi has appealed to the public to pray for those who didn’t plead guilty and welcome those who bowed to the pressure, emphasizing that they never committed any offense.

Among the 19 political prisoners who pleaded guilty on Monday October 14th 2024 is Olivia Lutaaya, Paul Muwanguzi, and Joseph Muganza, among others.
