Ndiga Clan Head Murder Suspects Committed to High Court

Ndiga Clan Head Murder Suspects

The Mwanga II Magistrates Court has committed five individuals to the High Court to face trial for the murder of the former Ndiga Clan leader, Eng. Daniel Bbosa Kakeedo.

The five are; Lugya Tabula, Noah Lugya, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, and Ezra Mayanja.

The court presided over by Principal Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba committed them following the completion of investigations.

They had initially been charged along with the Buganda Kingdom’s “Kkooti ya Kisekwa” Secretary Milly Naluwenda, who was set free after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) withdrew charges against her.

During the proceedings, Chief State Attorney Lillian Omara presented a summary of the evidence the DPP intends to rely on to prosecute the remaining accused.

The evidence states that on February 25th, 2024, at 17:55pm, two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle with a disguised number plate UEX 754E shot and killed Bbosaas he approached his residence.

The assailants fled the scene on the same motorcycle, but angry residents pursued them, leading to the lynching of one suspect, Enock Sserunkuma, while Noah Lugya was rescued by police from a mob and later hospitalized at Mulago Hospital before being charged.

During the chase, the two suspects reportedly fell off the motorcycle when the gun – a 7.2mm assault rifle they had used to murder Bbosagot stuck in the metal parts of the tyre. Police recovered the weapon, a mobile phone and a bag from the scene.

Records indicate that Bbosa’s body was later found in his Toyota Prado registration number UAH 637X and taken to the Mulago KCCA Mortuary, where a postmortem confirmed he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The DPP’s evidence claims that for more than three decades, Tabula had opposed Bbosa’s leadership, arguing that it was his ancestral entitlement and birthright to lead the Ndiga (sheep) clan.

According to the evidence, between November and December 2023, meetings were held at Tabula’s home in Mpigi to discuss ways to eliminate Bbosa, including options such as poisoning.

These discussions were prompted by Tabula’s failure to oust Bbosathrough a “Kkoooti ya Kisekwa” ruling.
