Police have voiced concern about the absence of lightening infrastructures in places that host crowds of people which puts their lives in danger and at high risk.
Police’s concern follows two incidents of lightning strikes that claimed the lives of 15 people while over 30 were left nursing wounds.
According to police, among the cases of lightning strikes registered over the weekend include a case where 14 people were struck by lightning at Paluda Refugee Settlement camp in Lamwo district during a prayer service while 30 were left nursing wounds.
The other case of lightning happened at Aninata Primary School where 11 year old Sharon Akello was struck as she was playing in the school compound with her friends during a heavy downpour.
Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson while addressing the weekly police news conference at their headquarters at Naguru, Kampala warned that people should consider putting lightning conductors on their infrastructures in order to save lives of people who take shelter in them.
