The National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) opposition party has quit “The Holy Alliance” pressure group over what it described as lack of transparency plus unknown sources of its funding.
The Holy Alliance unites some opposition political parties allegedly aiming at meaningful change in Uganda and NEED has been one of its members since its inception in February 2024.
Speaking to the media at the NEED Party Headquarters at Kabuusu, Lubaga in Kampala, the NEED Party President, Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta expressed concerns that the Alliance’s focus on financial gains undermines its ability to achieve the meaningful change for Uganda they talked about.
Kabuleta adds that the Alliance is driven on the DP-Bloc agenda and that decisions are made by a few individuals adding that even the sources of funds they use for daily running of their activities are unknown, making it impossible for them to work together effectively.
He revealed that NEED aims to maintain his integrity and continue fighting for the rights of all Ugandans.
The political parties under the Holy Alliance included among others; the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED), Justice Forum (JEEMA), Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) Alumni, Social Democratic Party (SDP), the DP-Bloc pressure group, the Conservative Party (CP) and the People’s Development Party (PDP).
