His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala marked the 30th anniversary of his appointment as a Cardinal on Tuesday November 26th 2024.
Cardinal Wamala, 97, was appointed a Cardinal in 1994 at the same time as he served as the Archbishop of Kampala, a responsibility he retired from in 2006 and since then he is at his rest house at the Nsambya Priestly Center.
St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Community at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) took this opportunity while also celebrating 20 years of evangelization at MUBS to share their anniversary celebration with Cardinal Wamala for his remarkable contribution when he was still in active service.
In his remarks, the MUBS Chaplain Msgr. Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu thanked Cardinal Wamala for appointing him to start the Catholic Chaplaincy at MUBS 20 years back which has registered great achievements notably on March 15th 2004 when the School accepted and allocated land to the Catholic Community which was blessed by Cardinal Wamala at the groundbreaking for the construction of the Chaplaincy.
In his remarks, Cardinal Wamala thanked the Catholic Community for being inspirational to the young generation especially their love and commitment to the Catholic Church before thanking God for the gift of life and service as a Cardinal.
The function was held at Hanlon Gardens Nsambya and was attended by among other people; Rev. Fr. Dr. Raphael Ddamba, Rev. Fr. Jerome Luweero and the Head of Laity Kampala Archdiocese Emily Kitto Mwaka.
