A total of 166 people have been apprehended in the ongoing festive season security operations conducted across the country.

The security operations that kicked off on Monday last week, are conducted by the Police and other sister agencies like the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) among others.

Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson while addressing the Police weekly press conference at the Police Headquarters at Naguru, Kampala on Monday noted that among the suspects, they managed to screen out the innocent ones and detained those connected to various offences.

He adds that most of the suspects were picked from risky areas where they converge, plan and come out to terrorize the unsuspecting members of the public by hitting them with sharp objects and then rob them.

Rusoke says that among the suspects, 8 were picked from Nabuti and Namanve Industrial area in Mukono district, 17 from West Division Lira City, 18 from Tororo district and 19 from Kikazi zone and Busulu Town Council in Sembabule district among other areas.
