Leaders Caution Ugandans ahead of 2026 in their Christmas Messages

Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II

The Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has implored Ugandans to start spotting for the rightful leaders as the country gears up for the next general elections in 2026.

According to the National Independent Electoral Commission Roadmap, the year 2025 will involve among other activities the nomination of interested persons to stand for the various political elective positions from the lowest to the highest seat in the country which is that of the President of Uganda.

In his Christmas message for this year 2024, Kabaka Mutebi emphasizes that those in Buganda should elect leaders who have the kingdom at heart.

This is one of the 12 points he pointed out for all during this Christmas time as delivered by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga during Christmas Mass at Lubaga Cathedral.

On his own behalf, the Katikkiro called for Unity amongst the Kabaka’s subjects if they are to achieve growth and development.

On his part, the President of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has noted with concern the change in the way the current generation perceives the message of Christmas.

Kyagulanyi says Christmas means joy however the changing trends have started to bring up negativity or challenges on such a joyful day.

This might be coming from different challenges at home, workplaces and at the national level where many still remain incarcerated in prisons due to their political affiliation.

Meanwhile, the State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo has decried the continued misuse of social media.

Muyingo says the platforms are used to attack personalities, spread obscenity and misguide the society. He says this might be as a result of laxity of parents in guiding their children.

He also reminded parents to take care of their children during the holidays and warn them against heartless persons citing the house helper whose actions of feeding a toddler on human waste which were captured on a video went viral.

Muyingo encouraged Ugandans to keep updated and take up employment opportunities as and when announced in the form of job opportunities especially for the teachers.
