Hundreds of faithful have taken pilgrimage to Jjugula in Mengo-Kisenyi Parish in Kampala to mark the martyrdom of Saint John Mary Muzeeyi, a Uganda Martyr who was killed at that place on January 27th in 1887.
Mengo-Kisenyi Parish has two pilgrimage sites, one at the St. Balikuddembe Market commonly known as Owino market where Ugandan Martyrs; Joseph Mukasa Balikuddembe and Antanansi Bazzekuketta were killed and Jjugula.
The chief pilgrim has been the Archbishop of Kampala, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere and during the Mass he hailed the Parish Priest and parishioners of Mengo-Kisenyi for the development undertaken at the pilgrimage sites, pledging to support the construction works currently taking place.
He meanwhile challenged parents to play their role of instilling values, morals and faith in their children right from home.
The Parish Priest of Mengo-Kisenyi, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Lubega in his remarks informed the Archbishop that the biggest challenge with all pilgrimage centers under Mengo-Kisenyi Parish are routes leading to the sites which is greatly affecting them.
Away from the mass, there was a fundraising towards the roofing of the Church and over five million shillings was collected.
The Nakawa East Member of Parliament, Eng. Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo was among the hundreds of faithful who attended the function.
