The Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested a woman and her 20 year-old daughter for conniving to kidnap her other seven year-old daughter with a motive of extorting money from her husband.

According to the police, on 26th January 2025, police in Nateete received a report of an alleged kidnap of a seven year-old female juvenile with the suspect demanding a ransom of 5 million Shillings from the victim’s father.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says that upon their investigations by the intelligence team, it was discovered that the suspects were in contact with the mother of the child called Nagadya.

When they deployed the tracking system of the phone calls to the father it located them in Kasenge-Nakawuka, Wakiso district near the victim’s home, where they found the female juvenile alive and unharmed in a place near her mother’s workplace.

Onyango says that the kidnapping was allegedly staged by the victim’s mother, Nagadya and her 20 year-old daughter, Winnie Namukwaya using an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to disguise their voices as a man making the ransom demands.

He says Nagadya and her daughter are under custody likely to face charges of kidnap with a techno phone and sim-card recovered as Police continue to search for an individual who sold them the registered sim-card which they used to contact the victim’s father.
