The Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has started receiving applications from persons expressing interest to run in the Kawempe North Parliamentary by-election and the Kazo-Angola Ward LC3 Councilor seat.
The exercise that officially started on Wednesday January 29th will be closed on February 4th 2025 at 12 pm and it is free of charge.
There were rumours that some party members were demanding unspecified amounts of money from interested aspirants, which could not be verified.
The NUP Party Electoral Commissioner in charge of Buganda Region, John Mary Ssebuufu in an address to the media at the party headquarters at Makerere-Kavule, Kawempe Division, Kampala on Wednesday said that the party is maintaining its selection process which is transparent and free from any form of corruption.
He has reassured all interested persons that they will receive equal opportunity without any strings attached.
Meanwhile, Ssebuufu has called upon all interested persons to embrace the process that requires among others; academic qualifications of at least a Senior Six certificate for the MP seat, valid party membership card and a Curriculum Vitae.
