A section of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) aspirants who were vying for the NRM ticket in the forthcoming Kawempe North by-election have withdrawn their interest in the race and decided to back the official NRM flag bearer, Faridah Nambi.
These include; George Onesmus Mutumba, Sam Katabaazi, Juliet Namale, Haji Moses Ali Jjemba and Hasib Takuba.
Speaking to the media at Kawempe-Ttula, Kawempe Division, Mutumba, one of those who have made this move explained that they have decided to throw their support towards Nambi for the good of their party.
Mutumba also highlighted issues affecting the people of Kawempe that need to be addressed and these include among others; poor roads, drainage channels, garbage in Kawempe and effective representation as they front issues affecting the youths.
Meanwhile, Nambi welcomed the gesture from her party colleagues and urged the Chairperson of the party, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to liaise with her rival Hanifah Karadi so that she also drops out of the race.
All this is being done in preparations of the Kawempe North by-election which is slated for March 13th as was laid out by the Independent Electoral Commission.
