Nansana Youths Get Funds for Environmental Restoration

The second batch of youths is set to receive funding to sensitize degraded communities and plant trees to restore the environment in Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district.

This is after the first batch of 500 youths comprising of 25 groups from Busukuma, Gombe, Nabweru and Nansana divisions in Nansana Municipality, in September 2024 received 145 million Shillings and 6,600 trees under the Youth Climate Fund micro-grant awards supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies to degrade communities and restore the environment.

Regina Bakitte Nakkazi, the Mayor Nansana Municipality while unveiling the second round of Youth Climate Action Fund before journalists at the Municipality headquarters today noted that they welcome the proposals of different ideas from the youths which could address climate change and promote environmental sustainability within the community.

She says that all proposals should be worth between 1,000 and 5,000 US Dollars using micro-grant application forms which can be accessed at the Mayor’s office or municipal social media handles by March 15th 2025.
