The Government of Uganda has allocated 500 billion shillings this quarter for disbursement to 10,589 Saving and Credit Cooperatives PDM SACCOs across all districts through the Wendi Mobile Wallet, developed by Post Bank Uganda.

According to George Kiyingi, Head of Agent Banking and Fintech Distribution at Post Bank Wendi Initiative, the partnership with the Government’s Parish Development Model (PDM) program has been instrumental in driving financial inclusion in Uganda and Post Bank by aligning with the PDM, through Wendi has been able to facilitate the disbursement of 580 billion shillings directly to SACCOs across all districts in the country.

Kiyingi adds that this has had a profound impact on local entrepreneurship, fueling household-level investments and revitalizing small businesses nationwide.

He disclosed that by removing obstacles such as long travel times and complex paperwork, or spending hours in queues, Wendi empowers individuals to capitalize on Uganda’s many emerging opportunities and is the reason PDM has been successful at post Bank.

Meanwhile, Edward Katende, Coordinator of the PDM at the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) praised Wendi for bringing banking services directly to households.
