The National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and other opposition leaders on Monday visited Luzira prison demanding the release of all political prisoners together with Dr. Kizza Besigye.

Kyagulanyi, was accompanied by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, former Leader of Opposition, Winnie Kiiza, Alice Alaso of the Alliance for National Transition (ANT), and other notable opposition figures.

After the visit, Kyagulanyi shared that the team was unable to meet with Dr. Besigye, as prison authorities informed them that he was feeble and was not in a condition to receive visitors.

Kyagulanyi further emphasized that the campaign to release political prisoners should not focus solely on his case, but should also include all other political detainees who are being held unlawfully.

Kyagulanyi has also revealed that Besigye was shocked by the visit by the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi who he did not talk to and urged Ugandans to disregard any statement by the Minister.
