Parliament on Wednesday afternoon joined the Catholic fraternity and well-wishers world over to offer prayers for the health and recovery of Pope Francis.

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among conveyed this message as she opened Wednesday’s plenary session.

According to the Vatican, Pope Francis is in critical condition and he has been receiving treatment for double pneumonia for the last 11 days in Rome’s Gemelli hospital but officials attending to him say that the Pontiff is continuing to eat normally and is able to move around his hospital room.

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs, typically caused by a viral or bacterial infection.

In a show of solidarity, Parliament also dedicated Psalm 32 to the Pope, praying for his quick and full recovery.
