The Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has reaffirmed that two individuals who were in contact with a child who recently died of Ebola are currently receiving treatment.
The 4-year-old child became the second Ebola fatality in Uganda, dealing a setback to health officials who had hoped for a swift end to the outbreak that began in late January.
Minister Aceng stated that the two patients are responding well to treatment and reassured the public of the Ministry’s commitment to containing the virus.
She also noted that health officials are continuing the 41-day countdown following the discharge of eight contacts linked to the previous Ebola-related death of a nurse.
Dr. Aceng urged the public to support government efforts in controlling the spread of Ebola, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial in overcoming the outbreak.
