The Buganda Parliamentary Caucus has established a special committee to investigate and compile a report on the region’s long-standing unresolved needs and demands.
The committee, chaired by Buyikwe South MP Lulume Bayiga, includes MPs Betty Ethel Naluyima, Keefa Kiwanuka, Fred Kayondo, and others.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament, the Caucus Chairperson, Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi, emphasized that despite being the largest and most populous region, Buganda has often been sidelined in government programs economically, politically, and socially compared to other regions.
The committee is expected to submit its report by April 4, 2025, after which the caucus will make an official pronouncement and push for government intervention.
In other developments, the caucus extended warm congratulations to the Kabaka of Buganda ahead of his 70th birthday celebrations on April 13, 2025.
They also expressed deep sympathy for the residents of the Kalangala Highlands affected by recent cyclone winds and called on the government to provide urgent relief assistance.
