Ssentongo relieved of duties as Chairperson of Kasana-Luweero DEIA

The chairperson of the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Education Inspectorate Authority (DEIA), Boniface Ssentongo

The chairperson of the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Education Inspectorate Authority (DEIA), Boniface Ssentongo has been relieved of his duties.

The DEIA, initially established as the Diocesan Inspectorate Authority (DIA) in 2012, was re-launched in 2021 by the then Bishop Paul Ssemogerere, who is now the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese.

The rebranding coincided with the adoption of the current name and the revised Diocesan Education Policy of 2020.

The DEIA was formed under Article 32 of the policy, which mandates a three-year term of service for its members, renewable once.

The authority comprises a team of eleven experienced educators and professionals tasked with conducting regular inspections across all educational institutions in the diocese.

Kasana-Luweero Diocese oversees 185 educational institutions, ranging from nursery to tertiary levels, including St. Kizito Minor Seminary in Nandere.

Boniface Ssentongo, a retired secondary school head teacher and former member of the Luweero District Local Government Public Accounts Committee (PAC), was appointed as chairperson of the DEIA in 2021.

This development was confirmed by Rev. Fr. Joseph Mary Ssekalegga, the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Education Secretary.
