The Uganda Law Society Members Cooperative Society is actively urging lawyers to join its ranks to secure their financial future.
The Cooperative’s Chairperson Morgan Gyaviira Bonna highlighted the financial struggles many lawyers face due to low income, which hampers their ability to recover from financial setbacks.
Currently comprising over 200 members, the cooperative has set a target of reaching 1,000 members, with aspirations to collect a billion shillings during each collection session.
According to Bonna, becoming a member of the cooperative offers lawyers a crucial financial safety net, particularly in light of the economic challenges they encounter despite their professional qualifications.
This initiative aims to address the financial difficulties faced by legal professionals and foster a supportive community where resources can be pooled together.
By encouraging mutual support among members, the cooperative seeks to enhance the financial stability and overall well-being of its lawyers.
Despite encountering challenges such as leadership transitions and some hesitance among potential members, the cooperative remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving its goals.
